Marketing Services

Organic Marketing

Organic marketing means using assets that do not require additional funding to support. The main purpose of this is to increase awareness and share messages with audiences across various platforms and mediums.

All online courses, programs and offerings with signed MOU’s are automatically provided the following services, free of charge.

  • Search Engine Optimized Article. This article will be featured in UMOnline’s newsletter and can be distributed in other campus-wide e-newsletters including; UM Today, Student Weekly and/or Griz Family News. Your article will also be featured on our UMOnline blog, found on our website.
  • Graphic Design. 8-10 digital assets will be created for you, including an 8.5x11 full-color flyer, social media-sized graphics, an infographic, and one form of video (reel/story 30 seconds - 1 minute or a full-featured video 3-5 minutes). Additional graphic design or marketing materials can be accommodated upon request. If you already have marketing materials you’d like to use, UMOnline can assist you with modifying them to meet branding guidelines at the University and testing for accessibility as needed.
  • Social Posting. UMOnline will post about your program or course on our social media channels, which include; YouTube, LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
  • Ads on Campus-Based Digital Screens. UMOnline will create an ad for your program that will be displayed on digital screens around campus including locations such as; the UC, Campus Dining Facilities, James E. Todd Building and more.
  • Events. UMOnline will create and distribute flyers and information about your program at all events that our staff tables including; Welcome Feast and other key campus-based events that we attend annually.
  • Listing on UMOnline’s website. UMOnline will create a listing for your course/program. This listing will link directly to enrollment, or your campus page. Each listing created is search engine optimized (SEO) and accessible. If you have a landing page on your department website, UMOnline will assist you with modifying to meet branding guidelines of the university as well as updated SEO language to drive users to your page.
  • Press Release Coordination. (In partnership with UM’s Public Relations and Marketing teams). UMOnline’s marketing coordinator will act as a liaison to guide the process of issuing a press release, given the news is indeed “newsworthy”. Note: Deeming an article “newsworthy” is best discussed between the program/course facilitator, UMOnline and the PR and Marketing team on campus.

Paid Marketing

Paid marketing is handy as needed. It can significantly increase your reach to potential students that organic marketing may not unless the organic marketing you are doing goes viral. Paid marketing adds a small "viral" approach to your marketing strategies.

If you have a marketing budget, and funds available to allocate to the marketing of your program, we have options to help you create a plan with optimizing your goals in mind. Please Note: You will be billed separately by UMOnline once a budget and service scope is established. Some paid marketing options include the following:

  • Paid Marketing Campaigns (Social Media, Search Engine)
  • Boosted Posts on Social Media Platforms (LinkedIn, Twitter, YouTube, Facebook, Instagram)

We work in unison with various partners across campus and outside of campus to achieve the goals of your online program:
